Forging Ahead Hand in Hand, Praising the 20th Anniversary of the Company

Twenty years, in the blink of an eye, neither too long nor too short. It can nurture a crying infant into a talented young person; it can also push a vigorous middle-aged man into his twilight years. Generally speaking, the average lifespan of small and medium-sized enterprises in China is 2.5 years, and that of group enterprises is 7-8 years. Like gold panned from the waves, Zhongji Group has been able to stand firm in the forefront and remain invincible. First and foremost, credit goes to the great achievements of the helmsman, and it is also inseparable from the concerted efforts and unified steps of all crew members.  

Zhongji has gone through ups and downs for 20 years, and I joined the company later. I have not personally experienced the big storms, but based on what I have seen, heard, felt, thought and realized since I joined, I will express my humble views. Please correct me if there are any inadequacies.  

In April 2018, Zhongji Group fully took over the operation and management of Huaihua Second Domestic Waste Disposal Site, and established the Huaihua Branch of Zhongji Energy Group Co., Ltd. at the same time. I was fortunate to join the big family of Zhongji Group and become a member of it.  

Here, it is necessary to briefly introduce Huaihua Second Domestic Waste Disposal Site: The waste site is located in the southern urban area of Huaihua, about 30 minutes' drive from the center of Huaihua. The total area of the domestic waste disposal site is 281.5 mu, with a designed total capacity of 5 million m³. Calculated at an average daily disposal of 500 tons of waste, it can be used for 20 years. The project started construction at the end of 2004 and was put into use in August 2005. It was completed in three phases, with a total construction investment of 120 million yuan accumulated so far. At present, it mainly receives domestic waste from Hecheng, Hexi Economic Development Zone, Zhongfang County and surrounding towns. At the beginning of taking over, there were pains and confusion, but we kept improving and innovating in the process of running-in. Looking back today, the operation and management of the entire landfill is in good order, and the appearance of the entire site has taken on a new look. The experiences in the operation and management of the waste site over the years seem to have happened yesterday. I can't forget the figures plugging leaks in the sewage to prevent the leachate from overflowing in front of the dam; I can't forget the figures sweating to weld and repair the membrane when the temperature on the membrane reached 50-60 degrees in the dog days; I can't forget the figures of all staff mobilized to deal with the spontaneous combustion of hazardous waste; I can't forget the busy figures of excavators and loaders used to deal with the landslide caused by heavy rain; I can't forget the scene of shoveling ice and spreading salt to ensure smooth roads in freezing and low-temperature seasons. Of course, there are countless similar scenes like these.  

In early July 2021, a sudden heavy rain hit the entire landfill hard. The landslide on the road around the site caused traffic jams; the drainage ditch was blocked; the garbage dam area, which is at the lowest part of the entire landfill area, had more than ten tons of garbage washed and accumulated on the water-collecting membrane in front of the dam; the rainwater diversion membrane was torn to pieces by the storm. However, on July 24, the on-site observation of gas collection and odor control in domestic waste landfills in the province was to be held at our site.  

Faced with such a complicated and messy situation, and the tight time and heavy tasks, under the correct leadership and help of the department leaders, and the careful deployment of the person in charge of the Huaihua project, the first step was to solve the problem of insufficient manpower. With the cooperation and deployment of the department, people from the Provincial Museum Project, Ningxiang Power Plant and Loudi Power Plant came to help. It was really a case of "when one is in trouble, all sides offer support". Then, for the existing problems, we assigned responsibilities to each person one by one, and formulated a work schedule according to the priority of the matters.  

The landslide on the road around the site was cleaned up by excavators; the drainage ditch was cleaned and dredged manually; the washed garbage accumulated in front of the dam was cleaned up bag by bag manually, and with the help of sprinklers, excavators and sludge dredgers, it was restored to its original state; the rainwater and sewage diversion membrane was fully inspected, with no dead corners in welding and leak patching, and geotextile membranes were purchased to cover the exposed garbage; a comprehensive environmental sanitation rectification was carried out in the entire site without dead corners; the operation area and stacking height of the garbage dumping platform were strictly controlled; the visual atmosphere layout for reception was in place as scheduled, with red flags fluttering in the landfill area and banners fluttering in the office building area... The implementation of all these tasks is inseparable from the hard work of all employees in the Environmental Energy Division. We fought against high temperatures and heat, worked from dawn to dusk, even all night; we tried our best. All the beauty comes from the selfless dedication of front-line employees.  

On July 24, nearly 200 sanitation peers, leaders and experts from the province arrived as scheduled, feeling the enthusiasm of Zhongji Group and experiencing the beauty created by the efforts of Zhongji Group employees. Of course, Zhongji Group also received praise from peers and recognition from the leaders of the Provincial Sanitation Association.  

The 20 years of Zhongji are pieced together by these small stories, and these frames of pictures have formed the brilliant Zhongji of today. At the same time, I am grateful to Zhongji Group for giving me a platform to display myself. For the 20th anniversary of the company, the best gift is to work hard and roll up our sleeves to work harder.
