From January to August, the growth rate ofthe whole society electricity consumption increased year-on-year. The growth rates of electricity consumption in the primary industry, tertiary industry, and urban and rural residential life were higher than the national average; 28 provinces across the country achieved positive growth inthe whole society electricity consumption; the growth rates of electricity consumption in industry and manufacturing were lower than the national average; electricity consumption in the chemical and non-ferrous industries showed positive growth, while that in the building materials and ferrous industries showed negative growth.
Among them, from January to August, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 76.7 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 11.0%; electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 3767.4 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%; electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 1014.3 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%; electricity consumption in urban and rural residential life was 925.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 15.8%.
From January to August, except for Guangxi, Liaoning, and Guangdong, all other provinces in the country achieved positive growth inthe whole society electricity consumption. 16 provinces saw growth rates ofthe whole society electricity consumption exceeding the national average. Among the top 5 provinces in terms of growth rate ofthe whole society electricity consumption, Tibet had a growth rate of 23.4%, Hubei 11.6%, Yunnan 11.2%, and Henan 9.6%. There were 11 other provinces with growth rates exceeding the national average (Hunan was 7.7%).
From January to August, national industrial electricity consumption was 3700.9 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%, accounting for 64.0% of the whole society electricity consumption. National manufacturing electricity consumption was 2800.2 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%.
From January to August, electricity consumption in the chemical industry was 362.1 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; electricity consumption in the building materials industry was 259.7 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%; electricity consumption in the ferrous metal smelting industry was 409.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; electricity consumption in the non-ferrous metal smelting industry was 492.7 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%.
