Solar energy is about to surpass hydropower to become the renewable energy with the largest installed capacity!  

Three key data for January-February 2023:  

58%: Photovoltaic installed capacity accounts for 58% of the new power installed capacity, becoming the main body of power installed capacity!  

200%: The new investment in solar power generation increased by about 200% year-on-year, showing strong growth potential in the future!  

88%: The new photovoltaic installed capacity increased by 88% year-on-year, making it the power source with the fastest growth in new installed capacity!  

1. Solar energy is about to surpass hydropower to become the renewable energy with the largest installed capacity!  

As of the end of February, the national cumulative installed power generation capacity was about 2.6 billion kilowatts. Among them:  

Solar power generation: The total installed capacity was 413 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 30.8%.  

Wind power: The total installed capacity was about 371 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 11.0%;  

Hydropower: The total installed capacity was about 414 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%;  

Without accidents, by the end of March, solar energy installed capacity will surpass hydropower to become the largest renewable energy installed capacity!  

2. In the first two months, the proportion of new photovoltaic installed capacity was as high as 58%!  

In the new installed capacity from January to February 2023:  

The new photovoltaic installed capacity was 20.37GW, accounting for 58% of the new power generation installed capacity;  

The new wind power installed capacity was 5.84GW, accounting for 17% of the new power generation installed capacity.

3. In the first two months, investment in solar power generation increased by 200% year-on-year!  

Investment in solar power generation increased by 200% year-on-year, showing enterprises' strong investment enthusiasm and indicating that the installed capacity will increase significantly in the next six months.  

4. In the first two months, the new solar power generation increased by 88% year-on-year!  

From January to February 2023, the new photovoltaic installed capacity was 20.37 million kilowatts, an increase of 9.52 million kilowatts year-on-year, with a year-on-year growth rate of 88%, making it the power source with the fastest growth in new installed capacity!
