Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the National Energy Administration jointly released the *Action Plan for Methane Emission Control* (Huan Qihou 〔2023〕 No. 67). The *Plan* clearly proposes to take more powerful measures to effectively improve the basic capabilities such as methane emission statistics, accounting, monitoring, and supervision, comprehensively and orderly promote methane emission control work, and actively participate in global governance of climate change. In the *Plan*, it is particularly emphasized that in the energy and agricultural sectors, as well as in waste and sewage treatment, the promotion and application of biogas and bio-natural gas projects should be encouraged and supported to reduce methane emissions.
