"Wind, solar, hydro, thermal and energy storage" join forces
Our province goes all out to deal with the record high electricity load

On July 24, it was learned from the provincial power supply dispatch meeting for peak summer that the electricity load in our province has risen sharply. At 21:17 on July 23, the maximum load hit a new high of 44.17 million kilowatts. At present, the power grid is operating stably on the whole, and the power system is making every effort to cope with the challenge of the historically high load.

Solid efforts have been made to ensure stable and full power generation of thermal power. All 43 thermal power units under unified dispatching in the province have been connected to the grid, and the operating conditions of the units and equipment are generally good. The province's thermal coal inventory stands at 6.08 million tons, 340,000 tons more than the same period last year, with a usable period of 28 days. The maximum output of thermal power reaches 24.06 million kilowatts, basically achieving stable and full power generation.

While coordinating flood control and power supply guarantee, hydropower has gradually shifted from full power generation to full peak regulation operation, with daily electricity output dropping from a maximum of 283 million kilowatt-hours to less than 100 million kilowatt-hours. As of the 24th, the energy storage ratio of key reservoirs is 76.3%, and all key reservoirs are still operating at a relatively high water level. Hydropower has the peak-load capacity of 12 million kilowatts.

Every effort is made to ensure large-power electricity transmission to Hunan from other regions. The Qishao DC maintains a full power of 6 million kilowatts to transmit electricity to Hunan during the evening peak. Two units of Guizhou Dalong Power Plant are connected to Hunan's power grid for operation. The power transmitted to Hunan from other regions reaches 10.71 million kilowatts, with a maximum daily incoming electricity of 219 million kilowatt-hours and an average daily electricity of 189 million kilowatt-hours, providing more than a quarter of the province's electricity.

New energy strongly supports the balance of power and electricity. Since July, it has maintained a relatively large output, with an average daily power generation of 138 million kilowatt-hours. The maximum output of new energy reaches 11.57 million kilowatts, among which the maximum output of photovoltaic power is 8.32 million kilowatts, a record high. The output of wind power during the evening peak has always remained above 3 million kilowatts, playing a strong supporting role in meeting the balance of power and electricity.

Energy storage is optimally dispatched, with a maximum discharge power of 2.14 million kilowatts and a peak-load capacity of 1 million kilowatts for 5 consecutive hours, which can effectively play a flexible peak-load role.

At present, the province's power supply capacity is about 46.5 million kilowatts, and the power supply and demand are in a tight balance. On the evening of the 25th, affected by the periphery of Typhoon "Gaemi", the whole province is expected to cool down and rain, and the maximum load will gradually drop to below 40 million kilowatts, which can be guaranteed by the power supply capacity.
