Beijing, July 23 (Reporter Ding Yiting) – The China Electricity Council announced on July 23 that in the first half of the year, the country's newly added power generation installed capacity reached 153 million kilowatts, of which 128 million kilowatts were newly grid-connected wind and solar power, accounting for 84% of the total new installed capacity.

By the end of June, the national full-caliber power generation installed capacity stood at 3070 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. Among them, coal-fired power reached 1170 million kilowatts, accounting for 38.1% of the total installed capacity; grid-connected wind power installed capacity was 470 million kilowatts, and grid-connected solar power installed capacity was 710 million kilowatts, totaling 1180 million kilowatts, accounting for 38.4% of the total installed capacity. For the first time, China's new energy power generation installed capacity surpassed that of coal-fired power, marking continuous progress in the greening of power production and supply.

Currently, China's new energy power generation is developing vigorously and has become the main force of newly commissioned power sources. In Baxoi County, Tibet, the first wind turbine of the world's highest-altitude wind power project under construction has been hoisted, with the site at an average altitude of 5050 meters; in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, the world's largest single-unit wind turbine has started generating electricity, capable of outputting 74 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually; in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, the country's largest offshore photovoltaic project has started construction, with the first grid connection expected in September this year... Since the beginning of this year, wind and solar projects have flourished, with increased investment and construction efforts.

In the first half of the year, the total power investment completed by key surveyed enterprises nationwide reached 598.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. Among them, power source investment reached 344.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%, and investment in non-fossil energy power generation accounted for 85% of the total power source investment.
