——Reflections on "the 20th Anniversary of Zhongji Group"
Author: Yi Bo from the Whole-Process Business Department
Time flies, with twenty years of golden years, twenty years of arduous exploration, twenty years of forging ahead through trials and hardships, and twenty years of striving for a complete transformation. The people of Zhongji celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group. Looking back on the years of growth, we have experienced twists and turns and difficulties but never gave up; we have achieved results and honors but never stopped. We are grateful to our team and our customers.
The Road of Learning
In August 2006, under the scorching sun, I packed my luggage and took an ordinary green-skinned train with my father from Hengyang to Changsha, the provincial capital. A greeting broke the unease and confusion in my heart—it was a senior sister who came to the railway station to meet new students. It was my first time in Changsha, and also the beginning of my journey in engineering cost. It was a strange city and a strange industry: engineering cost.
At the beginning of school, the first class was to explain what engineering cost is. We listened half-understanding, thinking, "It's just calculating money," and felt it was simple. From technical courses such as drawing recognition, drawing, building construction, construction technology, organization, and architectural mechanics to economic courses such as quantity calculation, pricing, list specifications, engineering economy, engineering investment and financing, and engineering management, I kept learning until graduation. Under the guidance of professional teachers, I was fortunate to participate in an open defense. Only then did I gradually understand engineering cost.
During the summer vacation of 2007, I went alone to a construction site of an aluminum factory in Laibin, Guangxi. In the sweltering heat, I worked at the front line of the construction site, living the life of a construction worker. There was flying dust, busy figures of construction workers, hard steel and cement, and scalding bricks. During the day, I was sweating profusely and suffering from the heat. I wore shoes pierced by nails, stumbled over the external wall scaffolding, and staggered across the ground piled with materials. At night, I slept on a bed made of wooden templates, with various mosquitoes flying around and ants crawling over, making it hard to fall asleep. Such days lasted for a month. It was hard at that time, but now it seems happy. Because I had learned about steel bar cutting, formwork and support force calculation, this experience at the construction site deepened my impression of "engineering."
The Road of Growth
In November 2008, recommended by my teacher, I came to Hunan Zhongji Tendering Agency Co., Ltd. located in Weiyi Star City International for an internship. At first, I could only help seniors with odd jobs, learning knowledge that couldn't be found in textbooks through these tasks. Under the guidance of experienced seniors, the encouragement of lovely colleagues, and the tolerance of leaders, I gradually grew into a cost engineer. During this period, I worked and studied happily.
Recalling when I first became a member of Zhongji, I gradually began to delve into various quantity calculation, pricing software, and professional knowledge of cost engineering. The seniors' serious and responsible attitude towards work, their pragmatic beliefs, their dedication to seeking truth in professional knowledge, their diligence in learning, and their unreserved guidance and leadership to juniors, as well as the mutual help and unity among colleagues, all made this a warm organization that influenced me. At the same time, it has cultivated batches of "Zhongji people" who inherit the Zhongji spirit for the society.
Time flies like an arrow, and years pass like a stream. Unknowingly, I have been associated with Zhongji for 14 years (with 3 years spent in a construction unit in between), becoming an "old comrade, old teammate." With batches of brothers leaving and batches of new colleagues arriving, I can't help but feel emotional yet full of hope. When I chat with old colleagues, I always feel their kindness and ease. I miss the relaxed and pleasant working environment, and the leaders with broad minds, lofty visions, strong tolerance, leadership style, and steady and dedicated work. Today's Zhongji corporate culture is formed under the influence of generations of Zhongji people inherited from generations of old leaders.
The Road of Gratitude
Now, time has polished my childishness, years have witnessed my growth, business has tempered my courage, and hard work has realized my dreams. Looking back, although I have no brilliant achievements to be proud of, I still receive tolerance from leaders and recognition from colleagues. I have experiences and accumulations, and I have no regrets.
In this era of struggle, we are all busy—busy with work, study, family, socializing, and sighing. Amidst the hustle and bustle, we should remember to be grateful: to our parents, who gave us life; to our seniors, who imparted knowledge to us; to the corporate culture, which taught us to be open-minded and tolerant.
Today's Zhongji, under the leadership of the team headed by the chairman, has formed a powerful combat group. Zhongji Group has become a group enterprise spanning the consulting industry, new energy investment industry, and information industry, with an annual income exceeding 100 million yuan.
The new reform of engineering cost is imperative. As professionals in cost engineering, we should attach importance to it with a sense of urgency, strengthen business learning and the application of new technologies, adapt to the development and changes of the industry as soon as possible, change the traditional thinking mode of quantity calculation and pricing, and transform into compound talents who are proficient in laws, contracts, construction techniques and market prices, understand engineering technology, economy, management and law, as well as negotiation and coordination, and have good professional ethics.
Whether looking back on the past or looking forward to the future, we should face everything with a grateful heart. As employees of the enterprise, we should feel lucky and proud. We should inherit the fine traditions of Zhongji people, adhere to the mission of "making life better," work actively, fulfill our duties, work hard, and create a better future with full enthusiasm.
